Hey Chigg,
1. Add an Avatar: Click 'User Control Panel' near the top of the screen near the right. This opens a control panel window.
Near the top of the new window is a row of tabs - click the second one - titled 'Profile'. This changes the window.
Now, on the left click 'Edit Avatar'. This changes the window.
And now click the 'Choose File' button and select your picture on your computer - can't be more than 150pixels by 150 pixels or bigger than 48k. Then click submit. I think that should do it.

2. Put photos up: easy when you've done it once or twice - post your pics on a site like photobucket or flikr. Grab the link to the pic and post it here. Stick an IMG opening and closing tag on the ends so it looks like this:



check its all worked how you want by clicking the Preview button - if all's good then hit submit and away you go!

Oh, and I think the size limit for images is about 620 pixels wide!

3. Colours in posts etc. Not done that before so I'm learning here! I think immediately above the message you're typing you'll see some buttons - the right one is 'font colour'. Type your message, click and drag to select the text you want to colour up, then click Font colour. You'll see a pretty grid of colours - click the colour square you like and it'll add a code before and after the text you selected. It should show up in colour when you hit the preview button under the message.

Belated thanks lads - I'm now techno-colour, the tinypic thing worked a treat, and I can now go to the last unread post!!! I couldnt've done it without y'all
