SSS Guitar Tabs

Postby endsprings » Wed Jul 07, 2010 11:09 pm

Hi everyone,

Over the next few weeks I'll be posting some guitar tabs for songs from the mighty man himself. I have "Just Because I Can (CSX)" and the Hank Williams cover "I'm So Lonesome I Could cry" down, along with "Burning Up" from the John Ross show (that's a wierd tunning!), "Walkin Man", "Prospect Lane" and "My Donny". Keep ya eyes posted. Also would love other people to post tabs too......

Great stuff endsprings, looking forward to some SSS tab. I have learnt a few tunes via YouTube and kinda sussed a couple out myself but would like to get my head around some others.

They won't be full tabs but the main different riffs. I always think you should play along with tunes and throw in little bits of ya own. Makes it more personal. As with most of Steve's tunes it's best to play them pretty loose and not too precise, if you know what I mean.! Anyway....should post a couple this Sunday. :D

Ok....so here we go with Burning Up. I watched the Jonathan Ross clip again this morning and I'm now not sure of the fingering but it sounds pretty good! Best advice I have is to play along with the YouTube clip as Steve plays things pretty loose. These are just the bare bones of the tune. The notes are not completely in line with each other due to me pasting direct into the message (it's pretty good). In the main riff the bass note is played at the same time as the high note.

I originally thought this was a real weird tuning but it’s actually standard tuning and on the Jonathan Ross show Steve’s guitar is a little flat. I’ve heard the version he played at Glastonbury 2010 and he added a few other parts and plays the main riff slightly different. In time I’ll try and work them out.

Any corrections, please let me know! Enjoy.

Here's another for all you geetar players. The Hank Williams cover I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry. This one's in Open D and is used with a slide. As before this is the bare bones and with it being in Open D you can also add in some high open notes and it won't sound out of place. Check out the clip of Steve doing this on You Tube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw3KxF9pxso

Again, any amendments or comments, let me know!

I was always a bassist so open tuning was a surprise to me when i switched to guitar... the band I'm in now tends to lean more towards 'dancy' stuff for a pub so blues is few and far between... tho i reckon im not a good enough guitarist to carry a night of blues anyway... (my leaning is towards rythm on the guitar, but being the only guitarist means i have to do some lead)
i got the hobo low.

Hey there, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I'd love to learn how to play the song Seasick Boogie, but I can't find a tab anywhere and the only live video that exists, films Steve from the wrong angle :(
