Scrap-o-caster

Postby davey » Sat Jun 04, 2011 9:01 pm

Hey all,

quick pic of the Scrap-o-caster:

Image

Its a plank of driftwood, cut and shaped into a basic strat shape (10 mins job - really that bad!). Number plate for scratch guard, grease tin for control panel, seat belt for strap, bits of BMC number plate light for string retainer, beer top for decoration, rusty bit of metal from the street to stop a split from splitting further... you get the idea.

cheers, davey.

Cheers guys - glad you like!

I saw Steve last week and offered it to him... and he hasn't said no yet (but he ain't seen it either!). But, like the Hubcap guitar, it was designed to be enjoyed for fun, not to be a stage guitar. Even if the man takes it there's no guarantee it'll be heard.

Cheers, davey.

Jeez Davey, that's one heap of Sh1t. (That's a compliment by the way :D )

I hope no innocent Stratocasters were injured in the making of that thang. Squier perhaps?

You could redefine the term "shredding" by the looks of the sharp edges of that switch plate :o

I love it! Bring it to Larmer Tree, I wanna play it!

Sorry - can't bring it to Larmer Tree... a friend of mine has it - perhaps he'll bring it along?

Cheers, davey.

Judging by the pic he ain't letting go of it, so that's that then.

Here's a pic of my distressed strat copy, suitably modified with Davey's advice.

Image

It was going to be a radical rebuild with a new body, but it looked too good once I'd stripped off all of the old lacquer and paint and stained it.

Time to find a new donor and start again.

Hey Jim - no need to be jealous - I'm told the thing plays well but it really ain't too pretty! The pic was taken at Gold Coast Oceanfest at Croyde Bay on 18th June.

Cheers,

davey.
