I knew we could count on you Davey!

Say, that guitar looks like some kind of replacement for the Trance Wonder with its 3 strings. Don't tell me that the Trance is gone :o

I'm pretty sure the old Trance was there ( I was way back beyond the mix desk so hard to see), he did introduce this as his other Trance Wonder though!

Davey got his usual name check! 8-)

I was there! My first Seasick Steve concert! :D I really enjoyed him, he was really good, I wanted to stay to get a chance to meet the man himself but had to leave quickly so I didn't miss the train! :?

I liked the look of the hubcap guitar, didn't someone on this forum make it for him? The drummer with Steve was amazing! What did you guys think of the support band? They were good, but a bit of an aquired taste. I think 12 songs is a bit much for a support band. Over 30 people in the balcony alone (where I was sitting) had left by about the 6th song

Overall a brilliant night. :D Bought the 'songs for elisabeth' album - the one I didn't have, listening now!

BapAndFuro

Look forward to seeing the pics!

EDIT: Steve had on a sleeveless yellow top didn't he?

Hello and welcome Bap.

Our man Davey made the hubcap guitar, and you are right the drummer (presuming you mean Dan) is amazing.

12 songs seems like quite a lot for a support act though. Don't know what their stuff sounded like though as I wasn't there! :(

hey Bapandfuro... (welcome to the forum) glad you had a good first gig exprience with Steve... hed's somethin else live alright... the Hubcap guitar was made by our very own musical instrument maker supremeo davey (the guy who posted that groovey picture at the start of the thread) Dans a phemominal drummer too...

yeh 12 songs seems more than plenty for a suport band.. tho they usually get given a specific time slot to fill so i suppose its fair enough...

Yes, if I get the chance I will definitely go again. His songs seem to really come alive live. They are great on CD, but even better live. My favourite song was probably Walkin' Man, I liked the idea of calling someone up to sing it to. I searched it on youtube and it seems Steve's done it before!

Ah yes I meant Dan, just googled him. He was very good.

Just read the hubcap guitar thread, very interesting!

Hey all,

sorry to be so quiet on this one so far - was knackered when I got in so just duped my memory cards to hard disc and backup and grabbed the firs half decent shot I could find to share with ya before bed! Then work today.

More pics will follow - but they need to be sorted first. If any of yous got pics please stick 'em up here!

Okay so onto the gig. Yeah, it was fantastic! Steve and Dan were absolutely smokin as usual - they seem to communicate telepathically (must be a beard thing) - they compliment each other so damn well.

Here's the set list as I remember it:

- Fallen off a rock
- Party (as listed on set list - I'd guess its full title might be something like 'gonna have a party'). New song - fast and loud and impossible to sit still to!
- That's All
- Walkin Man (Steve was approached by some fella in Soho yesterday - this chap asked for Steve's autograph. It appears they chatted and it turns out this fella was having a tough time so Steve invited him and his girl to the show... and Steve called his girl by name to be his walkin man girl for the night - a really nice touch!)
- Never Go West
- Things Go Up
- Burn It Up (new song number 2 - really not sure of the title - I spent the gig at the back of the stage and the sound is never quite so clear there - so the title might be completely wrong! Anyways - great new tune, driving bass line that jumps up and becomes a walking bass from time to time - incredible to hear one man and one guitar sound like a bass, rhythm guitar and lead all at once - brilliant! Oh, and the audience sing back went on and on and on).
- Diddley Bo
- Dark
- Cut My Wings
- Trix (as written on the set list) - new song for the hubcap - like 'Burn It Up' above, lots going on - unbelievable catchy - one play and its stuck in yer head. Staccato guitar rhythm going on is very cool indeed.
- Thunderbird
Encore 1 - Banjo Song
Encore 2 - Dog House.

I gotta tell you these three new tracks are real class - real stand out stuff - you're gonna love 'em!

The new 3 string seems to be a kinda spare to the trance wonder - but don't worry - the trance wonder is still going fine and sounding as good as ever. If I remember right the new 3 string is in a different tuning (might have been F sharp).

BapAndFuro - welcome to the forum - and yeah, what a great first SSS gig - glad you made it! Sorry - I missed most of the support band - I confess I discovered the many delights of the green room - great company in there and a magically appearing box full of iced beer! Duke and his band seemed like good folk - I will catch them someplace!

Oh, and yeah - Steve did have his yellow sleeveless on during the gig - the photo at the top of this thread was taken at soundcheck a few hours before the gig.

Well, best start on them pictures!

Catch ya soon, davey.
